Biography
Prof. Dr. Hung-Yuan Chung (S’85-M’89-SM’11/FIET’11) was born in Taiwan, Republic of China. He received the Ph. D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, R. O. C., in 1987. In 1977, he was affiliated with the Chung Shang Institute of Science and Technology as a research assistant. During 1984-1987, he was a lecturer at the mechanical engineering of the NCKU. In August 1987, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at the National Central University (NCU). Since August 1992, he has been a professor. In addition, he is a registered professional Engineer in R. O. C. He is a permanent member of the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering (CIEE) and the Chinese Institute of Engineering (CIE), respectively. He received the research outstanding awards of the NCU five times in 2014, 2009, 2008, 2007, and 2005 years, respectively. He also received the outstanding Electrical Engineering Professor award and Electrical Engineer award of Kaoshiung branch of the CIEE in 2009 and 2003, respectively. In October of 2010, he was recognized by elevation to Distinguished Professor of the National Central University. In May 2011, he was elected a Fellow of the IET (U.K.).His research and teaching interests include Systems Theory and Control, Adaptive Control, Fuzzy Control, Neural Network Applications, Bio-informatics and Bio-control Applications. He has authored or co-authored over 280+ technical publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings.
